Good morning...

Thank you Susie, Millie and Saint and all....

Day 108 no drinks feeling good...

Again, remembering, one day at a time, I am responsible for my actions and their consequences, think thru the first drink....relax and easy...

Yesterday's Happy hour went well, i had lot of my dear friends from work....This time I wanted to do something else, I didn't pick up even soda or water, I just talked to everyone...one friend at a time...most of them were loaded...i could see that...they had no clue sometimes what they were talking and unnecessarily laughing...I used to be that..I felt so good that I was in the pub and didn't touch anything...I slayed alcohol right in the devils womb...said goodbye to my friends and calmly walked out.
Another experience, what I learned is preparing ahead of time helps, enacting the scenario and your approach in my mind before situation is going to happen will sketch the acts effectively.

Thank you all for the support....

Have a great Friday!...stay sober and stay safe...

That is such a great story. Since stopping drinking at gigs, I have also reflected on the behavior of the others who would be suffering tomorrow. Not judging, but realizing that used to be me. And found that I was having a fine time just being there, but without the consequences. It can be done, and you have done it well!

Thank you for sharing that experience with us.

Great job Iamtrying!

I'm glad you followed through on your plan. I think it is the level of one's commitment to sobriety that allows our plan's to work. If there is a crack, a sliver of doubt we can easily talk ourselves into one drink. And that is all it takes to get caught sucked back into the current of self destruction.

I will caution you to be diligent, to not be overconfident. Alcohol will always be waiting for us to slip. The urge can come in hard and fast or it can arrive slowly, eroding our foundation of sobriety over time.

Keep up the good work,
Saint

Thanks Millie, Susie and Saint and all....

Day 109 no drinks feeling good...

Again, remembering, one day at a time, I am responsible for my actions and their consequences, think thru the first drink...relax and easy...

Saint I completely agree to be extra vigilant and not be overconfident. I sometimes from no where get the thoughts of drinking and that tap on the back .... The other day the Ad. on the TV triggered an urge...which I had to fight off...I try to stick to the basics and do it one day at a time....But I will take your advise to be vigilant...thank you

Thank you all for your support...

Have a great day...stay sober and stay safe

You remind me. When my husband and I announced we were going to get married in a few months, my cousins took a roll of toilet paper, wrote a number on each square(counting backwards) with "This is your wedding day!!!" after the number one on the last square inside. That was 47 years ago.

I don't know how many squares on a roll, but you reminded me of that fun memory. Keep counting!

Good morning...

Thank you Rlee, Lostdog and Susie...

Interesting and funny Susie..how they counted your wedding days....

RLee, as time passes it gets little easier, but I am still on the watch all the time...world is full of triggers and there is no place that doesn't remind us of drinks ...from billboards, TV, internet, friends, work....everywhere...the society we live in makes it harder to decouple...I am vigilant all the time...looking for that tap on the back and making sure I remain focus on my priorities.

What rewards me is everyday when I wake up from sleep I feel fresh and no regrets, Compared to hangover and damage control in the past. There is some peacefulness for being myself that I find in Sobriety and I enjoy it. It is easy for some people but it is hard for some like me and I earn this everyday by working on it one day at a time.

Day 116 days no drinks feeling good...

Again, remembering, one day at a time, I am responsible for my actions and their consequences, think thru the first drink....relax and easy...

Thank you for all the support...

Have a great day....enjoy the day...stay sober and stay safe...

Hey iamtrying!

What a terrific post. Your ongoing journey seems so purposeful, and you're traveling it with such, I don't know--clarity? Yeah, you do seem so darned clear, these days certainly. And gumption too, yep---you're making this journey with a whole lotta courage.

Sorry. I don't wanna sound too corny, but really, it is damned impressive, and inspirational, the gumption and purpose you're demonstrating.

Anyway. Just wanted to say good morning---and way to go!

best,

sam

iamtrying, Sam could not say it any better.

Yes we must be vigilant as we are never cured. As you say all kinds of distractions out there & King Alcohol is always there to tap on our shoulder.

I am here most every day to carry the message because it helps me stay sober for one mere day.

Congratulations on 116.

Iamtrying,

Congrats on your continued sobriety! Yes the longer we stay sober the easier it becomes. Please continue to stay vigilant. The urge to drink can come on very strong or it can be gentle prodding where we talk ourselves into just one drink. Or we give in to an offer of a drink because we get caught up in the moment, we feel good and don't think it through.

Sobriety becomes our lifestyle which makes sustained sobriety that much easier. We tend to change our behaviors and people we associate with. There is not much reason to hang around a bar if you're not drinking, etc. Our friends may change as we find ourselves spending more time with people that share our interests, ie not centering everything we do around alcohol.

Keep up the good work!

Good morning I Am Trying. Bright blessings to you.

Congratulations on your continued sobriety.

Many moons ago i was a day unit for years actually. I had gotton to a stage where i had been about 3-4 weeks sober, i cartwheeled into the unit 1 morning full of the joys of spring and proudly announced i had been to a pub but hadn't had a drink. Expection wheel barrows amounts of praise my therapisyt said...."idiot! Sit in a barbars long enough, you'll get your haircut!".

How right he was.

Be peaceful, be healthy and be strong. Loveness to you I Am Trying

Susie I am from this side of the pond ...

Day 120 (4 months) no drinks feeling good ...

Thank you all for your support...I couldn't have made it this far (4 months ) without your support...the guidance, the motivation, the support, just talking and being there makes a huge difference...You have made a big difference in my life. Having said that, I am still vigilant and lookout all the time, scared of the slip up but I am taking it one day at a time....Thank you to each and everyone here....I remember and think of you guys everyday.

I rewarded 60" TV for myself (I was saving for it from what I could save by not drinking)...feels good....

Again, Remembering, One day at a time, I am responsible for my actions and their consequences, think thru the first drink and urge, relax and easy...be focused and plan ahead...

Again, Thank you all for the support...

Have a great day!...stay sober and stay safe...

Super congratulations on 4 months.

Was it you on another thread who mentioned letting things go? Good stuff...

And a new TV is a very fun reward! Good for you!
