Monty's hip is improving at about the same speed as your leg! At least we can see some progress there. Thank you.

Thank you Millie. Just got back from the Doc. I hope the strength comes back. If not surgery is in my future. I'll do the things needed that are in my control. That's all I can do. I am thankful the pain is gone. I have understanding now for those that suffer constantly.

Susie,
I hope today is a better day for you and Monty. Certainly a stressful time and although you seem to be handling everything life has thrown at you lately please reach out if you find yourself struggling.

Saint - hope you feel better...take several opinions of different doctors..if you have friends do so...don't depend on one docs opinion..I feel doctors are very pigeon holed in their knowledge and fixated on what they have seen before...more the better...

Good afternoon dear Saint. Bright blessings to you.

What is happening for you my brother? You said on my thread that you had needed a giggle, i am concerned around that.

Forgive me dear Saint, but i read you so often on others threads, i should share on your thread so much more.

Can you tell me what exactly is your injury, (injury, pathways forward i know a hedge funds about, illness?....no idea)......i know it is your "leg", is it achilles, tendons, ligaments or full house?

Having a reconstructed leg, (i can bound over houses....oh yes......in the waiting room i was sitting next to Lee Majors, i turned to him, well one would......and i represented the tax payer in asking him if being the first 6 million dollar man was all it was cracked up to be.), i sort of think i know how the whole leg shebang works now....(oh and Lee Major, wishes he had legs like mine). If only he had come to me first.....ripped off....or what?

Obviously take professional advice over all others. Quite right too.

When they are full of shit, others that wobble about may have some useful advice.

I will even wash my white coat for you. (Stethoscope optional).

Chin up.....ooopppsssss, leg up dear Saint.

Hugs, my smiles and loveness to you.

Tryn,

Thanks for asking. So here goes....I broke up with my girlfriend of 5 years yesterday. I felt there was always that something special missing that I thought and hoped would come in time. It never materialized. I loved her but was not in love with her. So now there are crushed dreams, wrecked emotions and a hole in my life, in her life, where our friendship, love, once stood. I just dumped it all on her at once....she didn't deserve that.

So today I struggle....

Thanks everyone for your concern. I'm doing Ok. Everyday is a little better for me emotionally. I've been trying to stay busy with projects around the house and continue to exercise. I went on a 22 mile bike ride yesterday to a little lake. The hills kicked my arse and I overdid it physically with my leg and lack of conditioning but it was nice to get out. The exercise yesterday also helped me sleep much better than of recent. I have an appointment with a therapist to talk through a couple things in the near future.

Again, Thank you all for your concern!

Peace,
Saint

The bike ride sounds wonderful. So easy to overdo it when you have enthusiasm.

Glad you have that appointment. Please be gentle with yourself.

Good afternoon dear Saint. Bright blessings to you.

I am sorry it has taken me so long to catch up with this happening to you.

When i joined this family, Addiction Survivors, the folk that "were already here"....were sorted. It never occurred to me that their lives, your life, was as complicated as mine.

I was sinking, fast, and....don't we?....throw a line to someone that will catch it and pull us to safety?

The tapestry that becomes intertwined between us all, does not mean our lives do anything else other than to remain sober.

There is no such thing as "loss". Grief for sure.

Growth, the Saint, R Lee, whom we all see as those whom have "sorted it"......are folk that love, share, and struggle, just like the rest of us.

The hole in your life.....the "loving, but not being in love", the unanswered breaths, neverminds and gentle bad, sad walking aways, feel like they will turn into always.

Mr Saint. I have something to say about that. (What a surprise)

There was a time you were out of your nut....lost it ........schnooozzlleeedd...capput.

One does not wake up one day after that journey and now sober, is "tickety boo". Alcohol leaves such evasive and deep scars on an individual, it takes an inordinate amount of finding oneself, i would suggest it is a lifetimes work.

I am scrunching my face up here and wondering if i should just erase what i could just send.

Re the pathway forward with the girl you care deeply for?.......i would suggest it would be next to impossible to not want to be the part of a sober...alcoholics life. Especially yours.

Buy the girl a bike.

Massive hugs to you dear Saint.

Hi Saint...

Be kind to yourself...nobody can fill your shoes, you know the best what you are doing and knowing that you have made these choices when you are sober. I am certain and confident that these are right choices. Take it one day at a time...it will take time to build that bridge...but only you have to pick the other right end. My this years resolution was to "let go" and then their is always a new beginning...take time for yourself, be yourself...

Take care of your leg and focus on things that matter to you. Easy and relax...make sure to keep vigilant from that tap on the back...

peace friend..

I am doing Ok. Work, exercise keep me occupied. On days off from work my daughter is with me and helps fill my day. I am certain I made the right decision, now to work on forgiving myself for the pain I caused another that was so undeserving of it. Moving forward I will look back and with the help of others hopefully learn from the past...

Thank you all for being here for me. You help keep me sober.

Peace,
Saint

Absolutely Susie! That's what I do...

Tryn,
I enjoy biking but would like to be able to run. I did run on the treadmill the other day but it was tough physically with the weak leg. One step, one day at a time.

Thanks,

I hope you're feeling better!

I remember injuring my Achilles tendon and hated the fact that I couldn't run. Biking is great, though.

Sam has mentioned running barefoot and I don't know if you do it or have tried it. I tried running barefoot as a last ditch effort to like running and LOVED it! I haven't been injured in the last five years and I'm once again heading for an ultramarathon (100km).

My training took a dive while I was diving into the bottle and I don't run barefoot all the time, but I run in minimal shoes and love the feeling.

Take care of yourself, my friend.

SecretTiger,

Thank you.

I run in minimal shoes, low drop, but not necessarily minimal cushioning. If I run hills often and harder I end up with issues with my Achilles/ calves. I have often contemplated running barefoot but have not taken it to the next step. See what I did there ; ) lol.

Good luck with your training for your Ultra!! Great to 'see' you back!

Regards,
Saint

Yikes, ultra... a Facebook friend of mine says that ultramarathons are equal parts endurance training and competitive eating. I can't even imagine.

Glad you got to do a little on the treadmill, Saint. Sending lots of healing and strength.

Alexis,

I am ok today. Physically recovering from my injury and emotionally dealing with the end of my relationship. I've made some mistakes by not being honest about my feelings with my now ex girlfriend. She deserved and deserves better. I will try to learn from this and move forward lest I repeat the same mistakes.

Life goes on with or without me. I endevour to be the best I can be, both for myself and those in my life. Progress, not perfection.

Thank you for inquiring Alexis. Very thoughtful of you.

Peace,
Saint

I know im only 26, but i think i understand the not being honest with feelings part. I had a relationship for 4 years and 2 of those years i constantly thought about breaking up with them. I wasnt honest, i even cheated because i wasnt happy. It meant the end was pretty rough and i regret a lot of what happened.

You are right about just learning from it and trying to not make the same mistakes again. I had another terrible relationship after, so now ive decided to stay clear. Im not in the right mind set to be with someone else.

Progress not perfection really resonates with me, thank you for that.

Sending you love and peace Saint, this is a better place with you around xx
